I moved to Steiner Ranch in 1999 as a mother of young children, first becoming politically active in the 2016 Clinton campaign and then working for the 2018 Beto campaign. We can't sit idly by as special interests, wealthy individuals, and corrupt politicians exploit our government, the environment, and disadvantaged citizens to enrich themselves and promote a narrow belief system. I'm working to elect Democrats that favor a more just and equitable system, and to oust officials that don't represent our community's best interests.

An Austinite since 1996, I have been interested in becoming more politically active in my community and state but was held back due to the demands of my high-tech job and the travel it required. Following the one-year anniversary of my retirement, I’m excited and honored to
assume a leadership role within the Travis County Democratic Party chairing Precinct 272. I am enthusiastic, energized and ready! The time is now to be part of a movement that takes our country forward, and in the words of Michelle Obama, “Do Something!”. I’m eager to add to the democratic momentum that exists in Four Points and Travis County.

I’m a native Texan and life-long progressive Democrat. My wife and I came to Austin during the Tech Boom and have been longtime River Place residents. The Trump and Abbott administrations motivated me to action in the Democratic Party to register new voters, campaign for progressive candidates, and persuade progressives to vote. These are momentous elections with the health of our democracy at stake, and I will continue to support voter outreach efforts within our Four Points Super Precinct.

I am an industrial designer by profession and have a keen interest in design, politics, and sustainability. My husband and I raised our two children here, both now living in other parts of the country. I felt compelled to volunteer as a political activist during the unsettling 2016 campaign and have remained involved. As Precinct Chair of Precinct 273, I bring my professional experiences and that of a parent, neighbor, and citizen in the hope of making meaningful impact to generate excitement and ownership with the election process.

I came to the United States as a graduate student, obtaining a Ph.D. in physical chemistry, and beginning my career in Austin. I've directed and managed research and development, marketing, and intellectual property for the electronic materials and separation technology industries. As the President of the Austin Chinese-American Network, I support the local Chinese-American community while helping to grow its civic engagement. Through volunteer work and leadership, we seek to better the larger community. Working with Four Points Democrats and the TCDP is a continuation of these efforts.

As a staffer for a Texas House member, civil rights/immigration attorney, and political activist having represented POC and Asian voices on multiple advisory committees, I bring broad, relevant experience and an insider perspective to local voter outreach efforts. I well know the support that candidates and elected officials require to win elections and meet the demands of political office. I've been working to make Austin a more equitable and inclusive community since moving here with my husband and young son in 2011, and will continue leading efforts toward a better Austin and better Texas.
Carla Jo Schaefer
Former Chair of Precinct 244, Founding member of Steiner Ranch Democrats, Graphic Design and Publishing, Voter Registration
I am the former chair of Democratic Precinct 244 in Travis County and a long-time Democrat and activist, having worked for numerous political campaigns over the past 30 years. A native Texan and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, I have lived in Austin since 1970. Helping to staff a polling site is always one of my priorities come election time. I'm proud to be a small business owner, community volunteer, and the mother of three adult children. I look forward to continuing to aid with materials production and block walking for the Four Points Super Precinct team.
